Guilds
So, you wish to create a guild? Righteous.. In this document are various things to think about when wanting to create a guild and the rules that all guilds must abide by. This is to insure that they are run in a smooth manner and to avoid any ’dramas’ that might occur. This is also to insure the creator of the potential guild has sat down and thought about it instead of just creating the guild on a whim.
Rules
• Guilds are just that, Guilds. So no campaigns to try to rule over a city like New York City as they would not have the funds or the resources to do it and Guilds do not do such things.
• To apply for a guild you must have two characters minimum to start the guild up. This is to show there is some interest in it and to not bore the lone person who initially creates it.[/ul]
Code of Conduct
Even the most laid-back guilds have certain expectations for their members’ behavior, and you ought to explain them either in the charter itself. If the guild is a politically correct and generally nice bunch of people, let potential members know. On the flip side, if you want to foster an open environment where insults and un-PC jokes fly thick and fast, let prospective members know that.
All Guilds will still be bound by the rules of the forum and any action that is deemed unsuitable for a Guild or out of place will be rectified by any of the administrative staff.
Make sure in character actions for guilds are thought out, for example. You wouldn’t place the hunter’s guild in the Empire state building, Nor would you place a Mage Guild in the Tremere Chantry.
The Guilds are supposed to be a retreat for those users who wish not take part in the usual Camarilla Vs. Sabbat plot. Guilds are free to start rivalries and fight amongst one another, but these should be requested in the Plot Discussion board or the RP request board.
Guild Creation
Otherwise known as the ‘Guild’s Charter’. What do you, as the Guild creator, expect of the characters with in the Guild. Below are some questions you have to think about before creating the guild and will have to write up in the Guild creation process.
• What is the guild’s attitude?
• What is most important to us?
[/ul]
I’ll quote for you one of my favorite passages from an old Guild’s charter. It really shows who they were as an organization:
“We value kindness, fair play, and respect for others over reward or success. Our policies work toward ensuring a positive environment in which everyone can enjoy the fruits of our labor.”
If members wish to have their character in your Guild, They must speak to the Guild leaders and it is the responsibility of the Guild leaders to make sure the members list is up to date.
