Job Title & Description:
Milton is a reporter with the New York Times.Derangement(s):
Milton is acrophobic, meaning afraid of heights. Staircases with no railings, elevators with transparent bottoms, and the like cause him to hyperventilate, making it very difficult for him to focus. It's a running joke in his office that this is the reason he covers "street-level" stories.Misc.:

N/AAppearance:
Milton is about five foot eight, with short black hair and soft green eyes that put people at ease. He's not terribly muscular, but he's not unfit, either. His movements are calm but calculated even in stressful situations, provided such situations don't involve heights. He doesn't know enough to keep his thumbs out of his punches, but he does practice at a shooting range weekly, and his body language clearly shows the he knows how to use a gun if he picks one up.Fashion Sense/Style:
Milton usually wears a dress shirt and slacks, hoping for an image of respectability. A battered old jacket in the style of the sixties covers him when it's cold, as it did for his father and his father's father. Just for the sake of looking reporterly, he often wears a grey fedora when he goes out.Personality:
Milton is smart and inquisitive, knowing when to pursue something and when to let it lie. He is polite and respectful, but also relentless when it suits his goals, questioning from all different angles to get the best picture he can of whatever story he happens to be covering. He also has street smarts, and knows who to talk to and where not to go in order to stay safe in New York.Physical-Strength: 5

History:
Milton was born to a pair of middle-class doctors, their second child of two. He was encouraged from an early age in his passion for reading, writing, and history, excelling in those subjects. At age eleven he won the state spelling bee, but a throat infection kept him from competing at nationals. At age sixteen his high school debate team was one of the best in the country, and a year later he was a published (though little-known) author.
With all of these achievements, it wasn't hard for Milton to secure a full ride at Missouri State University, one of the top journalism schools in the country. He spent four years there in a very narrow program designed to prepare him for professional journalism, and during that time wrote both a memoir and a second novel. He still was far from famous, but a number of papers eagerly watched his progress.
Almost the moment he graduated Milton was battered by offers from various journalism groups, but he already knew what he wanted. He was quickly hired by the New York Times and put to work. Though offered a position as editor he declined in favor of reporting, which he found much more interesting. He continues to report, having made a wide range of contacts who get him inside information more quickly than most other reporters.
