History:
Alric was born in 1262 in the northern Holy roman empire. His mother notorious more for her insanity than any thing else, denounced him as a illegitimate child, which was entirely possible considering his father's perchance for serving wrenches. His father by the time of his birth was a sane if, lacking in nobility with a rather ponderous belly and a love of embellished tales. Young Richard grew up on tales of his great uncle a knight hospitars in the great city of Antioch, and the stories of the conquest of the holy lands, and the glory of the crusades; all very reliable stories from a cousin's wife's, brother's son of course. Despite his mother's claims to having never Bern him; not that anyone payed much attention to the old bat by this time, Richard lived the life befitting the second eldest son of a Marquess.
Thanks to his privileged birth kept him mostly separated from the hardships of the peasants and the serfs. That changed though just before his seventh birthday as her prepared to go to Baron Hadrov to squire, because after all typhoid doesn't choose it's victims by class and in the weeks before his leaving his elder brother was stricken low by the affliction. His brother's death struck young Richard hard and as if to open the wound further his brother was on campaign at the time and was buried nearly a month's journey away. Likely it was for the best that he didn't understand the full weight of responsibility that was being placed upon him though perhaps his father accompanying him all the way to the lesser baron's estate should have been some indication.
Richard's first meeting with the Baron was on the Outskirts of Georic a rather well fortified village surrounding a ever more fortified fortress. Baron Alexander Hadrov was, by this point a rather tired looking middle aged man one who clearly showed sign's of fighting the "blaster Danes" as he called them more than once. Gruff, blunt, but kind; he allowed several weeks for Richard to ease himself into the general change of atmosphere before appearing one day with a thick padded coat and telling Richard it was time to make himself in to a "proper" knight. However, the duke never told him how much manure shoveling it took to become a proper knight and Richard spent the majority of the first few weeks attempting to learn how character was learned from said shoveling of manure.
Squire Alric; whatever he may of though of the methods of training, was a exceptional learner and learned most of the early lessons easily and only a few minor scars as a lasting result of the early training. It was the latter training specifically lance training that left him with his poorly healed broken nose. As a result of the training he also came to meet his dearest friend, Demetri Domonov. Many friendships end by turning combative while others are born out of combativeness; this was one of the former, but several joint sessions of laundry for a fort and stall cleaning over came that. Demetri was the son of a minor lord from Sir Hadrov's lands and a year Richard's junior and had just started lance training when their spat began and as They both admit it was partially mutual jealousy. Squire Domonov had far superior horseman skills than Richard, but the elder could easily defeat the younger in foot combat. As years went by the both began to make a strong team and when both were finally raised to knight's the newly Minted Sir Domonov swore fealty to Richard choosing to return with his friend to Richard's lands rather this his own small lordship to serve under his brother.
Richard's father met Sir Adlric and Sir Domonov part way between Baron Hadrov's estate and the Marquess Aldric's fortress keep. Richard's father with the greatest part of his army in tow were encamped along the road to the fortress and when the two young knight's arrived the elder sir Aldric now looking more gaunt than his son remembered him explained the presence to him. A barony led by Baron Kovell had be bought off by agents of Novgorod and it's bargain was threatening both the Marquess of Alric as well as the fragile peace between the Holy roman empire and the Denmark kingdom and the Marquess was marching to war against the baron on the behest of the setting emperor.
