Serpentis walked down the streets of New York City smiling as he saw the newest empire to rise...the USA. He always loved walking through such cities, the kind of cities that one could literally hear the pulse of the people all around them. They were so stressed, and so unhealthy that their pulse pounded through their veins in such an audible tone to Serpentis that it made Serpentis vaguely hungry, despite having just fed upon the fine blood-wine of Ziva's establishment.
He passed several people on the street, getting plenty of stares, mostly directed at his cane, with its solid gold hand grip in the shape of a cobra's head, with two great red rubies as eyes. It wasn't long before, in the tradition of the great city, he was assaulted by a bum.
Serpentis, wasn't ready for it, but his ages old reflexes lashed out with his cane, intercepting the crude improvised knife with a sharp *click* sound as the treated wood, snapped the shiv with properly appropriated force to the correct angle on the improvised weapon. The bum looked panicked as Serpentis stepped toward him with a smile on his face.
"My good friend, that was a very poorly planned attack." Serpentis said with almost as much oil in his voice as could be put.
His cane shifted positions from the now harmless weapon to directly under the man's arm. He applied a little bit of strength and raised the man's arm up to a 90 degree angle.
"That" he tapped the man's arm "is the proper thrusting angle for a stabbing attack" he said genuinely.
"Otherwise, I could do exactly what I just did, snap your weapon with a slight shift in momentum." he reached into his blazer and brought out an ornately carved snake dagger, that glistened with a purple poison.
"Also, I noticed your blade was not poisoned, that was a poor choice if you truly wanted to kill someone. Poison is easy, you stab your target once, stalk them back to their apartment and then wait for them to die. Then their valuables are yours, and no one would ever suspect a bum." he said as he shifted positions to circle around the bum, taking his arm from behind and placing the dagger in the unsteady bum's hand.
"Now steady your hand, or it takes precious thrusting power out of your strike." he said as he did a couple of practice thrusts guiding the bum's arm.
"There...now go ahead and practice your thrusts in the back alley, and if you've perfected it, you may just get your first victim tonight." he said cheerily as he slipped four twenties into the bum's jacket.
"That's for you to find some clothes and a shower, so you can apply for proper assassin tutelage. Good luck my friend" he said as he walked the two feet towards his destination...the Empire State Building.
He approached the building, aware that someone was watching his antics with the bum from up top, probably a vampire...the one he was here to see.
He looked up the building and thought of flying up there, but remembered what Ziva had said about this new fad of "the masquerade" and he didn't fancy having to go back into torpor so suddenly, nor did he have the patience to fight tons of little underlings who knew not what was to happen in the times to come. So he looked up and smiled at the person he knew was watching, and walked inside.
He walked up to the secretary, and was told to go to the appropriate floor. He stepped through the door and looked around, marveling at the opulence he saw.
"well if this isn't the new tower of Babylon....." he laughed a little as he waiting for his host to open the door, ignoring the secretary. He knew he was expected. He always was.
