The foci that Tommy uses is his class ring on his finger. Its made out of an industrial metal composite with an imperial cut emerald inset on the top. The carvings on the outside of the ring are runes that apply to Tommy, such as spelling his name.Appearance:
Tommy has semi-long black hair, he has white skin and golden eyes. He looks very out of place no matter where he is, which is a problem for him since the Technocracy and other supernatural organizations hate him for his propensity for blatant magic. Tommy hates using magic in regular clothes so he usually transforms his work clothes into robes with a cowl so that he can look and feel cool and mysterious. This serves a purpose as well, keeping his face hidden most of the time.Fashion Sense/Style:
Tommy has a fairly normal sense of style, if not a bit on the grungy side. He loves to wear baggy jeans, a tight fitting shirt to show off his muscles, and a baggy hoodie over that to hide his physical fitness until the time is right for him to reveal it. When doing magic, now that is another thing. He buys into the whole arcane babble and mystery nonsense not because he uses it but because its fun to him, like playing pretend when he was a kid. So he uses black robes, with a cowl, and amulets of various kinds with mystic symbols. These symbols are ones he learned while working in his section at Borders book store.Personality:
Tommy is an average guy, except for his magic. He loves football, sports, and star wars. He will do anything once, as long as it isn't drugs because he has been taught that they hamper your magic and may even induce temporary Quiet. He isn't preachy about his Buddhism, but he is a firm believer and meditates daily. He loves going out on the town and having fun with new experiences and people.Physical-Strength: 8
He will always stick up for the underdog in a situation, usually because it leads to a fight and he loves to show off. He will always use magic, even if its blatant, to protect people. He loves the crowd and lives for applause. He passes himself off as a street magician to lessen people's disbelief but it doesn't solve all his problems.
He will usually spend his time in or around his bookstore reading books. It doesn't matter which kind, he can and will read anything once. His favorites though are world religion books or speculative archeology books.

History:
Tommy was a normal kid from age 1 to ten. He really was unremarkable and still is academically. He attends university at the local community college and is passing all of his classes. He spends most of his time practicing magic when he isn't working or studying. He has no steady girlfriend and isn't honestly that interested in getting one because of his preoccupation with magic.
His first brush with magic was when he accidentally murdered his best friend while in a fight over a girl. Emotions were high and they were both 14 so they decided to fight for her. They fought and Tommy lost, but in a last ditch effort Tommy threw all of his rage at his friend, manifesting in a life/matter effect dissolving his friends body completely.
His friend went "missing" he said to the police because was depressed. The police bought the story and nothing ever was found. He was distraught over the death, on the brink of suicide. His church had no help because to them all magic was the sign of the devil, and so he wandered one day into a Buddhist temple. There one of the monks was an Akashic brotherhood member, sensing the young man's inner turmoil, he took the young Tommy under his wing.
During his sixteenth year, he was closing up shop for Borders when he saw a gathering of several people out in the street looking like they were about to start a fight. He didn't know it, but he was about to meet one of the most important friends of his adult life. He saw three people ganging up on what looked like to be one man, his instincts for a fight took over and he smiled running over. He stood next to the man, who looked more like a lover than a fighter. "no worries, mate I got your back" he laughed as he taunted the three others who were encircling them. "so how about these jokers, eh? They think their really tough, three on one ain't such good odds but three on two..." he smirked "I think they're out numbered." The two warriors, the stranger and Tommy stood back to back regarding their foes with a steady gaze. The stranger seemed to think he didn't need the help but was slightly bemused by the younger human. The three vampires moved in at lightning speed. Tommy was not ready for this and was almost torn in two, but managed to get a wrist lock on the one that attacked him and flipped him. It was touching the vampire that let Tommy sense the lack of life in them, or rather their altered life. These were vampires, he knew their touch only by the legends told by his master. He quickly took out his pencil that he used to take stock with and used his magic to turn it into a stake. He smirked and used his art of Do, that is the esoteric martial arts practiced by the Akashic Brotherhood to channel his magic into his strike, eventually striking home and staking a vampire. He turned around only to see a hulking mammoth of a dog-man. This thing had already torn the vampires it was facing in two, and seemed to have watched the entire fight between Tommy and his one vampire. Tommy regarded the huge wolf thing with little fear in his eyes, as he concentrated, his eyes glowing, and he grew to approximate height with the werewolf thing staring it in the eyes. This seemed to make the werewolf amused as he shifted back to human form. He was chuckling, no full blown laughing at Tommy's bad impression of his werewolf form. Tommy shrank back down to his normal form, looking kinda embarrassed and very uneasy about this whole situation. He looked around him, the blood was everywhere and the two bodies were torn in at least two pieces by what looked to be a sword that was strapped to this man's back. He was completely puzzled. Tommy blinked and did the only thing he could do, he used magic to make the blood disappear. This only made the large man chuckle harder. Finally he was about to dispose of the bodies when the man clapped a large hand on Tommy's back, and said "You're alright kid, lemme buy you a beer." Tommy just numbly nodded and walked next to the man with the large sword and trenchcoat. "But...I'm only 18...." he protested which only provoked another fit of laughter from the larger man.
Later they would become friends, exchanging names and would meet on a number of occasions for fights and the like. They make an odd pair of friends, one barely 18 with magic powers and the other a very large conspicuous man with a large sword. The technocracy doesn't bother Tommy when he's with his werewolf friend, and practically everyone laughs at Tommy for his youth and even more for his vigor to prove himself.
Tommy is still in training but has largely learned to such a fast degree that it almost alarms the chantry and his friends. One explanation for this growth is because he has fully embraced the Buddhist faith, using it to give him solace both on a mental and spiritual level. Another is that he is given so much out of chantry training by going out for fights and such with werewolves and vampires alike, making him immune to paradox during those fights because those types of people shouldn't exist to paradox anyways.
